I reckon that one of the most useful modelling things is a cup of tea. When in doubt, brew up. A cup of tea helps slow you down to think about what you are doing. And when you are finished you can dry the tea bag and use it on your layout.
People have told me that the humble teabag makes great tarps. They make a great swag too. Drying out the teabag took a couple of days but the swag was made in minutes. In fact it took me longer to work out where it should go than it did to make it.
All I did was to cut a strip one centimetre wide and rolled up. Then I tied it all together with the teabag string.
Now my swaggy will be able to get good night's sleep.
Until next time.

Fitting out the Kitchen Part 2
After gluing bits of plastic together, I sprayed them with an old sample of Old Silver by Floquil. I've still some of that paint left and I must admit that I love using it. I then marked different fittings like door handles and knobs with a fine marker. With the drinks fridge, I searched for a suitable image on the internet and reduced the size and printed it on plain paper before using a glue stick to apply the image.
Here are the results.
The above images are before placement onto the layout.
This image doesn't look anything like is does now. Just before I typed this caption, I had a rethink. The good thing about writing up the blog straight after modelling is that sometimes you can change you mind before the glue set.
From the left is a storage freezer, next is a hotplate and oven, then a deep fryer and on the right, the drinks fridge. I have since reordered this. The two fridges are on the left. The hotplate is next followed by the deep fryer. Hopefully, this makes the drinks fridge more visible when looking through the serving window.
This is not the best photo but it gives an idea of what the inside looked like from the outside before the changes. I'd take another photo but my iPhone was on 2%.
One of the things to do is to install some lights so the bloke can cook his fish and chips.
The thing in his hand is a hammer - cos he's serving battered fish.
I was going to find another plastic person or cut off the hammer but after that gag, I don't think I want to.
Until next time.

Fitting out the Kitchen
I wasn't able to make it out to the club tonight so I did a bit of kitchen work while watching a couple of docos. Above are two fridges (one for drinks), a stove/hotplate and a deep fryer for the fish and chip shop. Hopefully I'll get them painted tomorrow.
Below is a link to One's new railroading documentary on Freeview. Sadly overseas folks may need to locate it elsewhere. It's on on Thursday nights at 7:30 pm.

The Swaggy
My swagman is setting up camp. Originally he was a Preiser figure intended to be riding a bike. However, he had a suitable hat and I could bend his limbs a bit. He is very close to the railway but he hasn't got much choice. Just out of frame, the flat world ends and he could fall into the abyss. He is quite brave really.
The campsite is made from a couple of pebbles which I had scrounged from a bit of exposed dirt at work years ago. The blackened ground had the static grass rubbed away, some wood ash applied and some ground sticks and leaves rubbed in.
He is sitting by a 6mm hole. I need to wire up an LED from one of those tea light candles and glue it in. Then I can build up a fire around it. I'll need to include an HO scale billy. I need a swag for him and, more importantly, he'll need a jumbuck stuffed in his tucker bag.
Until next time.
